Mass Effect Marathon 2 is Complete!

Another marathon done.  This has been our third charity event for Child’s Play in the last year and suffice to say we are all very proud, and very tired.

When we started with the first Mass Effect Marathon we thought we would be lucky to raise $2,000.  That year we raised $14,200.  When we did the Slumber Party, we shot for $5,000 and were amazed to raise over $7,000 in just 24 hours.  This year, after raising $20,000 during MEM2, we helped collect over $41,000 for Child’s Play Charity.  All of this in just one year.  It has been amazing ride.  We’ve met so many fantastic fans and made great friends throughout.  We have to thank you all for all of your help.

It’s tough for me to believe that Mass Effect Marathon is over and that it has been such a success.  We’ve been planning MEM2 since the end of June, so for about 5 months we have lived and breathed nothing but Commander Shepard.  It’s tough to think back to all of that and even imagine that it’s all done now.  We worked so hard to make it as successful as possible.  Lots of sleepless nights, so many crafts made, so much sweat fell to the ground during dance practice, and so much else.  At the end of it all, myself and the rest of the team are just filled with such a sense of pride.  Pride that we made it, pride that people enjoyed the marathon, and pride that we have helped make the lives of children better.  At the end of the day that’s the most important takeaway that we can have.

So after all of the Fan Fiction, the QWOPing, the B-Team and so much else, what is the next thing for the team?  Well, lots of rest, obviously.  We’re going to celebrate an amazing year and we’re going to sleep a lot.  We’re looking forward to PAX East, which will have all of us interacting with as many fans as possible.  If you watched us during this past weekend, and you are going to be at PAX, then be sure to keep tabs on our g33kWatch Facebook and Twitter for all the information on where we will be meeting up with people.

After that, we’ll start to flesh out what we want to do for MEM3 and then start to put that out there for everyone to get ready.  Here are some bullet points that you should be aware of.

• Fan Art & Fan Fiction Contest Winners will be announced Friday, December 2nd!  So stay posted.  =)
• Prizes are starting to be put together.  We will be shipping them out in phases so please be patient with us as we get all of the awesome swag out there.
